Increasing Community Support
Currently, 21 percent of our financial commitment to undergraduate scholarships comes from the support of donors. This means Georgetown relies disproportionately on its operating budget to sustain our commitment to meeting students' financial need.
Reaching the 1789 Scholarship Imperative's goal will enable the university to fund half of its scholarship commitment through philanthropy—exceeding the average of our peers.
Strengthening our philanthropic foundation will also make it possible for the university to direct more of its operating funds to other areas that drive our institutional excellence, such as faculty.
